Paws & Remember
When I was six years old my family got Toby, my very first cat. He was a gray tiger cat and lived both indoors and outdoors. I believed he could talk to me – I swore that he stood at the back door and asked “Out?” Thinking back he was likely demanding it more than asking. He lived for ten years and he left us the day after my 16th birthday. This was so many years ago, and pictures of Toby are few. I wish I could remember more about him because I think he set the bar for every cat after that. Over the last 40 years I’ve had 13 cats, numbers 11, 12, and 13 are with us now. Whenever one of our fur kids left I tried to jot some things down to hold onto the nicknames, the quirks, the habits. One of the cats would jump up onto my husband’s shoulders on request – but I can’t remember which one it was. How I wish I had done more saving – and kept these memories together.
When an animal we love dies we feel grief. Often society and even friends and family expect us to get over it, to move on. And without their constant presence the small details of who this special animal was can fade away. I wish I had more specific memories of my cats. As part of my work with love, loss, and grief I help you find and hold the memories of your loved animals.
In two sessions online we will talk together about your love with your animal companion. In the first, a 50 minute recorded session, I learn about your relationship, your animal’s history, quirks and special qualities. You can share photos of your animal and the family.
From the recording I compile a Remembrance for you. It may take the form of a List, a Poem, a Story etc., depending on my impression of the life of your unique pet.
In our second 30 to 50 minute session we wrap up by reflecting on what your experience has been since our talk, and I share the Remembrance with you.
Whether aging, ailing, recently lost or long gone, remembering your animal with your Good Heart Companion holding that space with you can ease your heart and preserve the love and memories with your beloved animal in a unique way.
The fee for the Paws & Remember Package is $150.
Paws & Remember makes a wonderful gift to a pet lover who is grieving, from someone who cares.
